Molecular Formula: C16H13F2N3O
Molecular Weight: 301.3
CAS Registry Number: 76674-21-0
2. Physicochemical Properties
Appearance: Pure product is a white crystal with a melting point of 130°C. The vapor pressure at 20°C is 0.4 μPa, and the density at 25°C is 1.41.
Solubility: At 20°C, its solubility in water is 0.18 g/L (pH 4) and 0.13 g/L (pH 7-9); 190 g/L in acetone, 12 g/L in xylene, and 69 g/L in methanol.
Stability: Stable in acidic, alkaline, hot, and humid environments. The technical material has a purity of over 93%, appearing as an off-white, odorless powder, and remains stable during storage under conventional conditions.
3. Toxicity
Acute Toxicity: The acute oral LD50 for rats is 1140 mg/kg (male) and 1480 mg/kg (female); the acute dermal LD50 is greater than 1000 mg/kg. It causes slight irritation to rabbit eyes.
Chronic Toxicity: Tests on mammalian cells show no mutagenicity. The LC50 for common carp and rainbow trout is 61 mg/L.
4. Mode of Action & Characteristics
Mode of Action: As a triazole fungicide, flutriafol acts as a sterol demethylation inhibitor. It inhibits the biosynthesis of sterols in the pathogen’s cell membrane, thereby disrupting the structure and function of the membrane to achieve fungicidal effects.
Product Characteristics: It features strong systemic activity, combined protective and curative effects, and a long residual period. It can be quickly absorbed by crops and translocated within the plant, preventing pathogen invasion and killing pathogens that have already invaded in the early stage of infection.
5. Target Diseases & Crops
Cereal Crops: Effective against powdery mildew, rust, leaf spot, sheath blight, and smut in wheat, corn, rice, etc.
Cash Crops: Controls sclerotinia, powdery mildew, and leaf spot in rapeseed, peanuts, soybeans, etc.
Fruit Trees: Provides control for leaf spot, scab, and powdery mildew in bananas, apples, etc.
6. Formulations & Application Methods
Common Formulations: 50% wettable powder (WP), 40% suspension concentrate (SC), 12.5% emulsifiable concentrate (EC), etc.
Application Methods:
For example, when using 50% Flutriafol WP produced by Jiangsu Ruibang Agrochemical Co., Ltd. to control wheat stripe rust, the application rate of the formulation is 120-180 g/ha (8-12 g/mu), applied by spraying before the peak incidence of wheat stripe rust.
Another example: 12.5% Flutriafol EC for controlling cereal smut—use 200-300 ml of the EC to dress 100 kg of seeds.
7. Precautions
Pre-harvest Interval (PHI): The PHI varies across crops. For instance, the PHI on wheat is 21 days, with a maximum of 2 applications per growing season.
Application Environment: Avoid application under harsh weather conditions or at noon. Keep away from aquaculture areas during application; do not clean application equipment in water bodies such as rivers and ponds. Prohibit use during the flowering period of surrounding flowering plants, and also prohibit use near mulberry orchards and silkworm rooms.
Personal Protection: Wear protective gear during application. After work, thoroughly clean hands, face, and rinse the mouth. Pregnant and lactating women should avoid contact.
Resistance Management: It is recommended to alternate use with fungicides of different modes of action to delay the development of resistance.
