Product Description
CAS No: 104-29-0
Form:powder
Product Application
Preservative
Exhibits strong inhibitory effects against Gram-positive bacteria (e.g., Staphylococcus aureus), Gram-negative bacteria (e.g., Escherichia coli), and fungi (e.g., Candida albicans). Particularly effective against molds and yeasts, commonly used in water-based or emulsion-type cosmetics such as creams, lotions, and masks to prevent microbial contamination.
Antifungal Agent
Shows inhibitory activity against dermatophytes (e.g., Trichophyton rubrum), useful for treating or preventing superficial fungal infections (e.g., athlete’s foot, tinea cruris), often incorporated into washes, creams, and other topical formulations.
Mildness
Compared with parabens, chlorphenesin has lower irritation potential and is less irritating to skin and mucous membranes, making it suitable for sensitive skin care products.
Topical Antimicrobial Agent
Used to treat superficial fungal and bacterial infections, e.g., compound chlorphenesin cream for tinea corporis, tinea cruris, and tinea manus/pedis.
Pharmaceutical Excipient
Employed as a preservative in oral solutions, eye drops, ear drops, etc., to prevent drug degradation.
In the food industry, used in small quantities as a food preservative (subject to local food safety regulations).
In animal feed, used as a mold inhibitor.
Packaging
