Basic Information
- Definition: Methyl MQ silicone resin is an inorganic-organic composite material formed by the reaction and polymerization of methylsiloxane monomers and methyltrisiloxane cross-linking agents. Its structural formula contains M units (methylsiloxane monomers) and Q units (tetrafunctional Si-O units).
- Appearance and Form: It exists in various forms such as solid powder and liquid. For example, the MQ-808 model of the MSK brand is a methyl MQ solid powder silicone resin produced by the water glass method, and models like XJY-8205 M-01 from Jiangxi Xinjiayi are colorless and transparent liquids.
Performance Characteristics
- Temperature Resistance: It can work stably in a temperature range of -60℃ to +300℃, featuring excellent heat resistance and low-temperature resistance.
- Film-Forming Property and Flexibility: It has good film-forming property and appropriate flexibility, along with strong aging resistance and UV radiation resistance.
- Water Repellency: The contact angle with water is greater than 90°, providing excellent water repellency, which makes it applicable for manufacturing waterproof coatings.
- Release Property: As a semi-permanent release agent, it exhibits outstanding release performance and long-lasting durability, helping to reduce production costs.
- Other Properties: Some methyl MQ silicone resins have high light transmittance (up to over 98%). Additionally, they possess excellent mechanical strength, electrical insulation, and moisture resistance.
Technical Parameters
Taking the AM-8080 model as an example, its appearance is a colorless and transparent liquid, with a volatile content of less than 0.35%, an M:Q ratio of 1.0, and a viscosity (at 25℃) of 15,000-20,000 cs. Methyl MQ silicone resins from different manufacturers and of different models vary in parameters such as molecular weight, M/Q ratio, hydroxyl content, and solid content.
Application Fields
- Electronics Industry: Used for the packaging and protection of electronic components, such as integrated circuit packaging materials and electronic component fixing adhesives.
- Chemical Industry: Employed as an additive in coatings and adhesives to improve coating performance. It is also used in fields like optical materials and anti-adhesive agents.
- Construction Industry: Applied in construction sealants and coating film-forming agents to enhance the sealing performance, durability, and corrosion resistance of buildings.
- Waterproof Agent Field: Processed into various waterproof coatings for use in construction, daily chemicals, and other fields.
- Cosmetics Industry: Serves as a surface protective coating film, which can eliminate the sticky feeling of silicone oil and improve smoothness, scratch resistance, etc.
- Defoamer Field: Enhances the high-temperature resistance, strong alkali resistance, and foam suppression performance of defoamers.
- Release Agent Field: Improves the long-term release performance of release agents and achieves ideal release effects for high-adhesion resins.
Packaging, Storage and Transportation
It is generally packaged in sealed containers, stored in a cool, dry, light-proof, and well-ventilated place at room temperature, and transported as a general product.
