Chemical Structure

  • Parent Structure: Coconut amine (a mixed fatty amine with C₈ - C₁₈ chains, and the main component C₁₂ laurylamine is about 50%).
  • Modified Group: 15 ethylene oxide (EO) units are added to the primary amino group (-NH₂) to form a long hydrophilic chain.
  • Molecular Formula: R−NH−(CH2​CH2​O)15​H (R = coconut-based mixed alkyl chain, mainly C₁₂/C₁₄; actually it is a secondary amine ether structure).
  • Structural Characteristics:
    • Hydrophobic Tail Chain: C₈ - C₁₈ alkyl (weak hydrophobicity).
    • Hydrophilic Head Group: 15 EO units (strong hydrophilicity, completely dominant property).
    • Linking Group: Secondary amino group (-NH-), due to the shielding of the long EO chain, the cationicity is extremely weak.

Core Application Fields

  • Textile Industry: It is used as a high-temperature leveling agent for polyester 130°C dyeing (disperse dyes), which can stably retard dyeing at high temperatures and solve the problem of color unevenness. It can also be used as an anti-staining agent for nylon and spandex dyeing, a scouring agent to efficiently emulsify spinning oils and fiber impurities, and an antistatic agent to permanently eliminate static electricity in synthetic fibers.
  • Agricultural Chemicals: It is used as an emulsifier for water-in-oil emulsions (EW) and suspension concentrates (SE), which can stabilize formulations with high water content at high HLB values and is resistant to hard water and pesticide active ingredients. It is also used as a dispersant for water-dispersible granules (WG) and suspensions (SC) to improve the particle disintegration rate and suspension stability.
  • High-temperature Industrial Cleaning: It is used for CIP cleaning in the food and beverage industry, and can be used for hot alkali circulation cleaning at 85°C without the risk of cloud point precipitation. It is also used for the cleaning of textile and printing equipment and can withstand strong alkalis and high-temperature steam.
  • Personal Care: It is used in transparent shampoos and body washes to solubilize fragrances and silicones (replacing expensive alkyl polyglycosides APG). It is also used in makeup removers to assist in solubilizing oils and remove makeup gently.
  • Polymers and Coatings: It is used as a main emulsifier for styrene-acrylic and vinyl-acrylic emulsions in emulsion polymerization, providing high electrolyte stability. It is used as a pigment dispersant in water-based coatings to prevent flocculation and improve storage stability. It is used as a foam stabilizer in water-based inks to improve the leveling property.
