Applications

  • Buffer Reagent: It is a commonly used amphoteric buffer reagent in biochemistry and molecular biology, belonging to one of the "Good" buffer groups. The buffer range is pH 6.15 - 8.35. It can prevent protein oxidation and irreversible denaturation during gel electrophoresis and is suitable for preparing solid-phase pH gradients.
  • Cell Culture: It can be added to protein-free media to support the growth of chicken embryo fibroblast cells.
  • Metal Ion Chelating Agent: In the physiological pH range or lower, it can chelate metal ions such as Mn²⁺, Cu²⁺, Zn²⁺ and Co²⁺ in a 2:1 ratio.
  • Pharmaceutical Intermediate: It is used to synthesize some pharmaceutical compounds.
  • Diagnostic Reagent: It plays a role in some medical diagnostic tests.
