Polyamides (Nylon, Core High-End Application):

Specialty Long-Chain Polyamides:​ Polycondensation with hexamethylenediamine yields Nylon 613 (PA613), and with decamethylenediamine yields Nylon 1313 (PA1313). These odd-carbon nylons, due to the odd-even effect in polymer chains, typically possess crystalline structures distinct from even-carbon nylons, lower melting points, better transparency, excellent toughness, and low-temperature resistance. Used in specialty engineering plastics, transparent films, high-performance monofilaments, and sports equipment​ requiring specific material properties.

 

Fragrance Industry (Core Traditional & High-End Application):

Macrocyclic Musks:​ The key and optimal raw material​ for synthesizing high-end macrocyclic musks like Musk T. Its C13 chain length is the ideal precursor for constructing 15-membered ring musks (e.g., Musk T), which can be efficiently produced via intramolecular cyclization. Musk T possesses an elegant, subtle, and long-lasting musky scent​ and is an indispensable high-end fixative in perfumes, cosmetics, and detergents. This is currently the most economically significant application for brassylic acid.

 

Hot-Melt Adhesives:

Polyamide Hot-Melts:​ Used in synthesizing high-performance polyamide hot-melt adhesives. Incorporating the C13 chain segment can impart lower melting temperatures, better flexibility, and improved low-temperature performance​ to the adhesive, suitable for bonding textiles, leather, and electronic products.
