Product Description
CAS No: 57-10-3
Form: solid
Product Application
Vulcanization Activator: Used as a primary alternative or co-agent to stearic acid. It significantly reduces compound viscosity, improves mixing efficiency, accelerates cure speed, and enhances adhesion between rubber and reinforcing materials (e.g., steel cord, fabric).
Mold Release Agent: Applied in tire and inner tube manufacturing. When sprayed on molds, it prevents rubber adhesion, extends mold life, and ensures a smooth surface finish on finished goods.
Plasticizer: Improves processing flow and imparts excellent elasticity and tensile strength to the final rubber product.
PVC Lubricant: One of the most important internal and external lubricants for PVC. It effectively reduces melt viscosity, prevents melt fracture, and improves surface gloss in pipes, profiles, sheets, and injection-molded parts.
Dispersing Agent: Used in the production of color masterbatches and filler masterbatches to promote uniform dispersion of pigments and fillers within the polymer resin.
Precursor for Stabilizers: Reacted with metal oxides to produce metallic soap stabilizers (e.g., Calcium Stearate/Zinc Stearate) for plastics.
Emulsifier & Thickener: A classic oil-phase ingredient for cold creams, lotions, and hair waxes. It raises the melting point of emulsions, providing a desirable "solid feel" and structural stability.
Skin Conditioning Agent: Forms a hydrophobic barrier on the skin surface, reducing Trans-Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL) and providing moisturizing benefits.
Pearlescent Agent: Utilized for its crystallization properties to create a fine pearly luster in shampoos and shower gels.
Food Emulsifier Precursor: Used to synthesize mono- and diglycerides (E471), which are essential emulsifiers in ice cream, bread, chocolate, and non-dairy creamers for improving texture and aeration.
Bakery Applications: Added to flour to retard starch retrogradation (staling), keeping baked goods soft and extending shelf life.
Rust Inhibitor: A key component in the formulation of rust-preventive oils and greases, forming a dense adsorbed film on metal surfaces to block moisture and oxygen.
Textile Auxiliaries: Used as a winding oil and smoothing agent for synthetic fibers (Nylon, Polyester) to reduce friction and static electricity during processing.
