Product Application

3.1 Surfactant Industry (Core Application)

Myristic Acid is the preferred raw material for synthesizing high-purity anionic surfactants, especially for mild personal care products.

Sodium Myristyl Sulfate (STS/NaTS): Provides strong foaming and detergency; a key ingredient in liquid detergents, shampoos, and body washes.

Alcohol Ethoxylates (Myristyl Alcohol-derived AES): Offers better viscosity characteristics and foam stability compared to Lauryl-based AES, commonly used in premium facial cleansers.

Sodium Myristoyl Sarcosinate: An extremely mild amphoteric surfactant primarily used in baby care products and tear-free shampoo formulas.

3.2 Cosmetics & Personal Care

Creams & Lotions: Acts as an emollient and viscosity modifier. Myristic Acid raises the melting point of emulsions, imparting a desirable "stringy" texture (thixotropy) and smooth application.

Lipsticks & Color Cosmetics: Due to its moderate melting point, it is frequently used in lipstick formulations to provide a smooth touch, gloss, and enhanced pigment dispersion.

Soaps & Cleansers: A primary component in pearlized soaps and beauty bars, producing dense, fine foam that cleans effectively without stripping the skin.

3.3 Food Industry

Food Additive: Used as an emulsifier, stabilizer, and thickening agent.

Specific Uses: Essential for producing Cocoa Butter Equivalents (CBE), margarine, candy coatings, and baked goods to improve texture and shelf life.

3.4 Pharmaceutical Industry

Pharmaceutical Excipient: Serves as a base (oil phase) for ointments and creams due to its good permeability enhancement and skin compatibility.

Controlled Release: Myristate esters are used to prepare microcapsules for drugs, regulating the rate of drug release.

Biochemical Reagent: High-purity Myristic Acid is used in cell culture research to study bacterial Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) signaling pathways.

3.5 Industrial Applications

Plastic Lubricant: Used as an internal and external lubricant for thermoplastics like PVC to improve processing flow and prevent mold sticking.

Metalworking Fluids: Functions as a rust inhibitor and extreme pressure (EP) additive in cutting oils and rolling oils.
