5.1 Oilseed Extraction & Food Industry

Vegetable Oil Extraction:​ The largest application. Petroleum Ether (specifically the 60–90°C grade, known as "6# Solvent Oil" in China) is used in commercial hexane extraction plants to leach oil from soybeans, rapeseed, peanuts, and sunflower seeds. The solvent is later stripped off and recovered.

Natural Flavor & Pigment Extraction:​ Used to extract capsanthin (paprika red), curcumin (turmeric), capsicum oleoresin, and essential oils from spices and botanicals.

5.2 Chemical & Pharmaceutical Industries

Reaction Solvent:​ Serves as a non-polar solvent for Grignard reactions, alkylation reactions, and polymerization processes.

Pharmaceutical Intermediates:​ Used in the extraction and purification of vitamins (Vitamin E, Vitamin A), hormones, and other lipophilic APIs.

Botanical Extraction:​ Extraction of chlorophyll, ginsenosides, and flavonoids from medicinal plants.
