Product Description
CAS No: 64742-49-0
Form: liquid
Product Application
Vegetable Oil Extraction: The largest application. Petroleum Ether (specifically the 60–90°C grade, known as "6# Solvent Oil" in China) is used in commercial hexane extraction plants to leach oil from soybeans, rapeseed, peanuts, and sunflower seeds. The solvent is later stripped off and recovered.
Natural Flavor & Pigment Extraction: Used to extract capsanthin (paprika red), curcumin (turmeric), capsicum oleoresin, and essential oils from spices and botanicals.
Reaction Solvent: Serves as a non-polar solvent for Grignard reactions, alkylation reactions, and polymerization processes.
Pharmaceutical Intermediates: Used in the extraction and purification of vitamins (Vitamin E, Vitamin A), hormones, and other lipophilic APIs.
Botanical Extraction: Extraction of chlorophyll, ginsenosides, and flavonoids from medicinal plants.
Rubber Solvent: Dissolves natural rubber and synthetic rubbers to produce adhesives, cements, and rubber solutions.
Polymerization Medium: Used as a solvent in solution polymerization for SBR (Styrene-Butadiene Rubber) and Polyisobutylene.
De-waxing: Used in the petroleum refining industry to remove wax from lubricating oils to improve their pour point.
Metal Degreasing: Excellent for cold cleaning of metal parts to remove grease, oil, and fingerprints, especially for aluminum and magnesium alloys where chlorinated solvents are unsuitable.
Electronics Cleaning: Used for cleaning printed circuit boards (PCBs) to remove flux residues and particulates due to its fast evaporation and non-conductivity.
