5.1 High-Performance Polyesters (Primary Market)

PETG (Glycol-Modified PET):​ 1,4-CHDM is the essential comonomer (20–40% loading) used to modify PET. It inhibits crystallization, yielding a clear, tough, and easily thermoformed plastic.

Uses:Cosmetic packaging, medical devices (IV bags, blood containers), food containers, retail displays.

PCT (Polycyclohexylenedimethylene Terephthalate):​ A high-heat polyester made from 1,4-CHDM and Terephthalic acid.

PCTA:​ Copolyester of CHDM and Isophthalic Acid (IPA), offering enhanced impact strength and clarity.

5.2 Polyurethanes

Chain Extender:​ Used in the production of Thermoplastic Polyurethanes (TPU) and Cast Polyurethane Elastomers (CPU). It increases hardness, modulus, abrasion resistance, and hydrolytic stability.

Polyol Synthesis:​ Used as a building block for saturated polyester polyols used in flexible and rigid foam systems.

5.3 Coatings & Adhesives

Saturated Polyester Resins:​ CHDM-based resins are used in Powder Coatings, Coil Coatings, and High-Solids Industrial Paints. They provide excellent flexibility, impact resistance, and outdoor durability.

Radiation Curing:​ Precursor for polyester acrylate oligomers used in UV-curable inks and varnishes, improving hardness and scratch resistance.

Lubricants:​ Synthetic basestock for high-temperature lubricants and greases.
