CAS No: 112-36-7

Form: liquid

Product Application

Coatings & Inks:

Solvent-borne Coatings: High-boiling solvent to improve film leveling and prevent blushing.

Water-borne Coatings/Inks: An efficient coalescent and coupling agent, significantly lowering the minimum film-forming temperature (MFFT) of aqueous resins to promote formation of continuous, dense films. Widely used in latex paints, water-based industrial coatings, and water-based wood finishes.

Screen Printing Inks: Modifies leveling and drying speed.

Cleaners & Degreasers:

Used in precision electronics cleaners, metal degreasers, and hard-surface cleaners. Effectively removes both polar (e.g., fingerprints, flux) and non-polar soils, with easy rinsability.

Polymer & Resin Industry:

Solvent for polymerization reactions, especially in systems requiring high boiling point and strong solvency.

Diluent and flow aid in polyurethane, epoxy, and other resin systems.

Chemical Synthesis & Extraction:

Aprotic polar solvent for organic synthesis reactions, such as Grignard and alkylation reactions.

Solvent in liquid-liquid extraction for separation and purification of organic compounds.

Other Fields:

Brake Fluid Component: Part of high-performance synthetic brake fluid formulations, providing good viscosity-temperature properties.

Textile Auxiliary: Used as a dye solvent and leveling agent.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from heat, ignition sources, and oxidizers. Keep containers tightly closed due to its hygroscopic nature.
