Metal Cleaning & Surface Treatment (Primary Application):

Alkaline Degreasing Agent: A key component in alkaline degreasing and cleaning formulations​ for ferrous and non-ferrous metals (steel, aluminum, copper) prior to plating or painting, removing oils, soils, and light rust.

Boiler Water Treatment (Traditional Key Application):

Scale & Corrosion Inhibitor: Used in internal boiler water treatment as a softener and anti-scale agent. It reacts with calcium and magnesium to form a soft sludge, preventing hard scale, and raises boiler water alkalinity to inhibit corrosion.

Detergents & Cleaners (Restricted Sector):

Detergent Builder: Was a major builder​ in laundry powders and industrial cleaners, providing alkalinity, softening water, and emulsifying oils. Due to eutrophication concerns, its use in many household detergents is now banned or phased out, though it remains in some heavy-duty industrial cleaners.

Food Industry (Food Grade):

Improving Agent, Emulsifier, Buffer: Used in processed meats, cheeses, and beverages as a moisture-retention agent, emulsifier, and pH regulator, subject to strict usage limits.
