1. Chemical and Physical Properties
- Chemical Type: It belongs to the category of modified alkylnaphthalene sulfonate formaldehyde condensates, anionic surfactants specifically designed as high-efficiency wetting and dispersing agents for pesticide suspensions (SC) and water-dispersible granules (WDG).
- Appearance and Physicochemical Indicators: It appears as off-white to light brown free-flowing powder with a bulk density of approximately 0.60~0.75 g/cm³. The pH value (1% aqueous solution) ranges from 6.5 to 8.5. It has excellent water solubility and can rapidly disperse in water to form a uniform solution.
2. Mechanism of Action
- Synergistic Wetting and Dispersing: The modified alkylnaphthalene sulfonate groups in the molecule can quickly penetrate the surface of pesticide technical particles while reducing the solid-liquid interfacial tension. This enables the technical particles to wet and disperse rapidly in the aqueous phase, preventing agglomeration. Through electrostatic repulsion and steric hindrance effects, a dense adsorption layer is formed on the particle surface to maintain the long-term stability of the suspension system.
- Optimized System Compatibility: It has excellent dispersion adaptability for hydrophobic and easily agglomerated pesticide technical materials (e.g., pyraclostrobin, trifloxystrobin). It can synergize with various dispersants (such as TERSPERSE series, lignosulfonates) to broaden the formula design space.
3. Key Application Technical Points
- Addition Amount: Generally, it accounts for 2%~5% of the pesticide formulation mass (the specific amount needs to be adjusted according to the characteristics of the technical material). For example, in pyraclostrobin 25% SC, the addition amount is approximately 3.5%.
- Addition Method: During the pre-dispersion stage of suspensions/water-dispersible granules, it is uniformly mixed with technical materials, water, thickeners and other components to ensure uniform distribution in the formulation.
- Compatibility: It can be used synergistically with most anionic and non-ionic dispersants and thickeners (such as xanthan gum, magnesium aluminum silicate). Direct mixing with strong cationic adjuvants should be avoided.
4. Performance Advantages and Market Value
- Outstanding Dispersion Stability: In SC/WDG formulations of hard-to-disperse technical materials such as pyraclostrobin and trifloxystrobin, after adding TERWET 1236, the suspension rate is ≥90%, and the particle size increase after thermal storage (54℃, 14 days) is ≤10%. This is better than traditional wetting and dispersing agents (which usually have a suspension rate ≤85% and a particle size increase ≥15%).
- Significant Cost-Effectiveness: Compared with imported similar adjuvants (such as a certain brand's EFKA series), it has a 10%~18% lower procurement cost. Meanwhile, its lower dosage (reduced by 0.5%~1%) can effectively reduce the formulation cost of pesticide preparation enterprises.
- Excellent Storage Stability: After 14 days of high-temperature storage at 54℃, the dispersion performance attenuation of formulations containing TERWET 1236 is ≤5%, which can meet the long-term storage and transportation requirements of major global agricultural markets.
