1. Basic Attributes

  • Product TypeNonionic fatty acid polyoxyethylene ester emulsifying dispersant. Its core component is a polymer of stearic acid and ethylene oxide (EO chain length presumed to be 30-40), with an HLB value of 14-16, suitable for oil-in-water (O/W) emulsification systems, especially for scenarios requiring high hydrophilicity.
  • Key Certifications: Contains no NP (nonylphenol) or APE (alkylphenol ethoxylate) residues. Complies with EU REACH Regulation and China’s GB/T 26396-2011 biodegradation standard, with biodegradability ≥90%. Some specifications meet food-grade (GB 2760) or cosmetic-grade regulatory requirements.
  • Applicable Systems: Compatible with neutral to weakly alkaline (pH 6-9) aqueous systems, tolerant to low-concentration electrolytes (e.g., <8% sodium chloride solution), and not suitable for strongly acidic (pH < 4) or high-temperature (>60℃ long-term static) environments.

2. Core Physicochemical Properties

Index Item Presumed Standard Range Description
Appearance (Room Temperature) Light yellow to brown-yellow viscous liquid No stratification or sedimentation; may be semi-solid at low temperatures (<15℃) and regain fluidity when heated below 40℃
Acid Value ≤1.5 mg KOH/g Reflects the degree of ester bond hydrolysis; lower values indicate better storage stability and compatibility
Saponification Value 30-40 mg KOH/g Characterizes ester group content, positively correlated with emulsifying ability; lower values indicate longer EO chains
Hydroxyl Value 40-50 mg KOH/g Reflects the content of unreacted hydroxyl groups; lower values indicate stronger hydrophilicity
Surface Tension (0.1% aqueous solution) 38-42 mN/m Good wetting ability, can reduce liquid-solid interfacial tension and improve system dispersibility
Solubility Soluble in water, ethanol, propylene glycol Insoluble in mineral oil, dispersible in vegetable oil and low-carbon chain ester solvents

3. Functions and Typical Application Scenarios

  • Core Functions:

    1. Efficient Emulsification and Stability: Forms a dense emulsification film through the adsorption of stearic acid hydrophobic ends with oil phases and the combination of polyoxyethylene chain hydrophilic ends with water phases, controlling O/W emulsion particle size within 1-5 μm, with no stratification or demulsification after 72 hours of standing.
    2. Strong Solubilization Ability: Exhibits significant solubilizing effects on poorly soluble substances (e.g., pesticide technical materials, daily chemical flavors, fat-soluble active ingredients), increasing their solubility in aqueous phases by 3-5 times.
    3. Low Irritation Compatibility: Compared with anionic surfactants, it has lower irritation to skin and mucous membranes, suitable for daily chemical and food contact scenarios.
  • Typical Application Fields:

    • Agrochemical Industry: Used in emulsion (EW) and microemulsion (ME) formulations, such as 30% Pyraclostrobin EW. The recommended addition amount is 6%-9%, which can limit the particle size growth of the emulsion to ≤8% after thermal storage (54℃×14 days).
    • Emulsion Polymerization: Acts as an emulsifier in styrene-acrylic emulsion and vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer emulsion (VAE). With an addition amount of 2%-3%, it controls the latex particle size within 0.3-0.8 μm, improving the film gloss and water resistance of the emulsion.
    • Daily Chemicals and Food Industry: Used in skin care products such as creams and lotions (as the main emulsifier, addition amount 1%-3%) and food emulsified flavors (e.g., non-dairy creamer, addition amount 0.5%-1.5%), complying with relevant safety standards.

4. Usage Specifications and Precautions

  • Recommended Addition Amount: 6%-9% in the pesticide field, 2%-3% in the emulsion polymerization field, and 0.5%-3% in the daily chemical and food fields. Small-scale tests (e.g., emulsion centrifugal stability test) are recommended to verify the optimal ratio, avoiding excessive addition that may lead to excessively high system viscosity.
  • Compatibility: Can be compounded with most nonionic and amphoteric surfactants. Avoid mixing with strongly acidic substances (e.g., hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid) or high-concentration cationic surfactants (e.g., quaternary ammonium salts) to prevent ester bond hydrolysis or precipitation.
  • Storage Requirements: Seal and store in a cool, ventilated place (15-30℃), avoiding direct sunlight; the unopened shelf life is 24 months, and it should be used within 6 months after opening. Tighten the container immediately after each use.
  • Safety: Food-grade specifications have an acute oral toxicity LD50 (rat) > 10,000 mg/kg, classified as practically non-toxic; for industrial-grade specifications, gloves are recommended during operation to avoid prolonged skin contact.
