I. Basic Information

  • Product Name: Low-Foam Surfactant
  • Brand Model: DF - 12
  • Packaging Specification: 204.12 kg/barrel
  • Main Ingredient: Non-ionic surfactant (mainly including common types such as polyoxyethylene type and polyol type, synthesized through specific processes. It has a unique molecular structure and can reduce surface tension while achieving low-foam characteristics)

II. Product Characteristics

(1) Physical Properties

  • Appearance: Usually a colorless to light yellow transparent or translucent liquid with good fluidity, facilitating addition and mixing during production and use.
  • Density: Approximately 0.9 - 1.1 g/cm³, which can be well mixed with water and most commonly used solvents, making it convenient for formula adjustment.
  • Odor: Slight and mild odor, which will not cause obvious adverse effects on the use environment and the odor of the product itself.
  • Solubility: Good solubility in water and various organic solvents, and can be quickly dispersed in the system to play its role.

(2) Core Performance

  • Low-Foam Performance: In various application scenarios, it can effectively inhibit foam generation. Even under conditions prone to producing a large amount of foam, such as mechanical stirring and high-pressure spraying, the foam volume can be controlled at an extremely low level, ensuring the smooth progress of the production process and avoiding equipment failures or product quality problems caused by foam overflow. For example, during machine dishwashing, it will not generate excessive foam to affect the washing effect and drainage.
  • Efficient Cleaning: It has excellent surface activity, which can quickly reduce the surface tension of water, enabling oil stains, dirt, etc. to quickly separate from the object surface and disperse in water, achieving an efficient cleaning effect. In food and dairy cleaners, it can effectively remove stains such as oil and protein.
  • Wetting and Penetrating: As a wetting agent, it can significantly improve the wetting performance of liquids on solid surfaces, accelerate the penetration of liquids in porous materials such as pulp and paper, and improve production efficiency. In the pulp and paper-making process, it helps fibers disperse and form better.
  • Good Compatibility: It has good compatibility with other surfactants, additives, and various formula systems. It can be used synergistically with fungicides, preservatives, chelating agents, etc. to jointly improve product performance without causing adverse phenomena such as precipitation and flocculation.

III. Action Principle

  • Reducing Surface Tension: Non-ionic surfactant molecules can be quickly adsorbed to the gas-liquid interface and arranged directionally, weakening the intermolecular forces on the liquid surface and reducing the surface tension. As a result, the foam film wall becomes thinner and less stable, making it difficult to form stable foam.
  • Dispersing Dirt: The lipophilic group in its molecular structure can interact with dirt molecules such as oil stains, "pulling" the dirt off the object surface, while the hydrophilic group disperses the dirt in water, and the dirt is carried away by the water flow.
  • Improving Wetting: At the solid-liquid interface, non-ionic surfactant molecules are adsorbed on the solid surface, changing the wettability of the solid surface, reducing the contact angle, and making it easier for the liquid to spread and penetrate on the solid surface.

IV. Applicable Scenarios

(1) Food and Dairy Cleaning

  • Used for cleaning food processing equipment, containers, pipelines, etc. It can effectively remove dirt such as oil, protein, and carbohydrates, and meets food-grade safety standards without polluting food.
  • For equipment such as milk tanks and milk pumps in dairy production, it can quickly remove residual milk stains, ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the equipment, and prevent the growth of microorganisms.

(2) Machine Dishwashing

  • Suitable for automatic dishwashers. During the washing process with high-pressure water spraying and mechanical stirring, it can effectively inhibit foam generation, and at the same time, strongly remove oil stains and food residues on tableware, leaving the washed tableware bright and clean.
  • Combined with the high-temperature disinfection function of the dishwasher, it can better kill bacteria and ensure the hygiene and safety of tableware.

(3) Metal Cleaning

  • Used for cleaning metal parts and equipment surfaces. It can remove dirt such as oil stains, rust, and cutting fluid residues, improve the cleanliness of the metal surface, and provide a good foundation for subsequent processes such as coating and electroplating.
  • In the cleaning process after metal processing, its low-foam characteristic can avoid foam clogging the filter device, improving cleaning efficiency and quality.

(4) Pulp and Paper-Making

  • In the pulp preparation process, as a wetting agent, it can accelerate the penetration of water into fibers, allowing fibers to disperse better, improving beating efficiency and reducing energy consumption.
  • In the paper-forming process, it can reduce foam on the paper surface, avoid paper defects such as holes and spots, and improve the quality and yield of paper.

(5) Rinsing Aid and Wetting Agent

  • In fields such as laundry and industrial cleaning, as a rinsing aid, it can help the residual detergent dissolve and disperse quickly, reduce detergent residues, and make rinsing more thorough.
  • In industries such as coatings and inks, as a wetting agent, it can improve the dispersibility of pigments, enhance the uniformity and stability of coatings and inks, and improve their film-forming performance.

V. Usage Methods and Precautions

(1) Usage Methods

  • Addition Amount: Determined according to specific application scenarios and formula requirements, generally ranging from 0.1% to 5% (mass fraction). For example, in food and dairy cleaners, the addition amount may be 0.5% - 2%; in metal cleaners, it may be 1% - 3%. The specific dosage can be determined through small-scale tests to find the optimal value.
  • Addition Method: It can be directly added to systems such as cleaning fluids and detergents, or added after dilution. It is recommended to add it slowly under stirring to ensure that it is evenly dispersed in the system.

(2) Precautions

  • Storage Conditions: Should be stored in a cool, dry, and ventilated warehouse, avoiding direct sunlight and high temperatures. The recommended storage temperature is controlled at 5 - 35°C. After opening, it should be used as soon as possible. If stored for a long time, it is necessary to check whether the product has abnormal phenomena such as stratification and discoloration before use.
  • Safety Protection: During operation, gloves and goggles should be worn to avoid direct contact with the skin and eyes. If it accidentally comes into contact with the skin, rinse immediately with a large amount of water; if it enters the eyes, rinse immediately with a large amount of water and seek medical attention in a timely manner.
  • Compatibility Test: Before mixing with a new formula system or other chemicals, it is recommended to conduct a small-scale compatibility test first to confirm that no adverse reactions will occur, such as precipitation, discoloration, and reduced performance.
