1. Basic Information

  • Brand & Model: DeuRheo 202P
  • Core Ingredient: Polyethylene wax, a low-molecular-weight polyethylene polymer with excellent chemical stability and thermal stability. It is processed into a polyethylene wax slurry through a special dispersion technology, enabling it to function effectively in coating systems.
  • Appearance & Character: Typically a uniform paste-like liquid, mostly light yellow to brown in color, with no obvious particles or impurities. This makes it easy to add and mix during coating production.
  • Packaging Specification: 50 kg/drum. Industrial-standard packaging drums are used, featuring good sealing and corrosion resistance. They can effectively prevent the product from volatilization, deterioration, or contamination during transportation and storage.
  • Physical Parameters:
    • Density: Approximately 0.9 - 0.95 g/cm³ (at 25℃), close to the density of common solvent-based coating systems, which is conducive to uniform dispersion in coatings.
    • Melting Point: Generally 100 - 120℃. It maintains stable performance during the coating baking process without premature melting or decomposition.
    • Viscosity: Ranging from 1000 - 5000 mPa·s (at 25℃) depending on different formulations and production processes. The moderate viscosity facilitates storage, transportation, and mixing in coating systems.

2. Product Features

  • Excellent Anti-Settling Performance: As a dispersed polyethylene wax slurry anti-settling agent, it can effectively prevent the sedimentation of solid particles such as pigments and fillers in coatings. This ensures that coatings remain uniform during storage and use, avoiding issues like delamination and sedimentation, thereby guaranteeing the application performance and coating quality.
  • Broad System Applicability: Suitable for various solvent-based air-drying and baking coating systems, including alkyd/amino baking paints, acrylic/amino baking paints, epoxy ester paints, vinyl resin paints, and acid paints. It exerts good anti-settling effects in different coating systems, enhancing the stability and reliability of coatings.
  • Advantage in Dipping Coating: Particularly suitable for dipping coating operations, it can improve the shortcomings of ordinary anti-settling agents in this process. During dipping coating, it enables the coating to adhere more uniformly to the surface of the object being coated, reducing problems such as uneven coating thickness and inconsistent color caused by pigment sedimentation, thus improving the coating effect and product quality.
  • Good Chemical Stability: Polyethylene wax itself has stable chemical properties and is not prone to chemical reactions with other components in the coating system. It does not affect the drying speed, hardness, gloss, or other properties of the coating, and has good compatibility with resins, solvents, and additives in the coating system.
  • Superior Thermal Stability: It can withstand high temperatures during the coating baking process, maintaining a stable structure and performance while continuously exerting anti-settling effects. This ensures stable quality of the baked coating without defects caused by the decomposition or deterioration of the additive.

3. Application Fields

  • Automotive Coating Field: Used in the production of automotive original equipment manufacturer (OEM) paints and automotive refinish paints, specifically in systems such as alkyd/amino baking paints and acrylic/amino baking paints. It prevents pigment sedimentation, ensures uniform coating color and consistent gloss, and enhances the aesthetics and durability of the automotive exterior.
  • Industrial Equipment Coating Field: For protective coating of various industrial equipment, such as epoxy ester paint and vinyl resin paint systems. It effectively prevents sedimentation of coatings during storage and application, ensuring the coating has good adhesion, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, thereby extending the service life of industrial equipment.
  • Metal Furniture Coating Field: During the coating of metal furniture, especially when using the dipping coating process, DeuRheo 202P allows the coating to adhere better to the metal surface and prevents pigment sedimentation. This makes the coating on the metal furniture surface smoother and flatter, improving the decorativeness and protective performance of the furniture.
  • Other Solvent-Based Coating Fields: In addition to the above fields, it can also be applied to other solvent-based coating systems such as acid paints, providing stable anti-settling performance for these coatings to meet the quality and performance requirements of different industries for coatings.

4. Usage Methods & Recommended Dosage

  • Recommended Dosage: Generally 0.5% - 3% based on the total mass of the coating formula. The specific dosage needs to be adjusted according to factors such as the type of coating system, the type and content of pigments and fillers, and the application process. For example, the dosage may be close to 3% for coating systems with high pigment content and high sedimentation risk; for coating systems with low sedimentation risk, the dosage may be between 0.5% - 1%. It is recommended to determine the optimal dosage through small-scale formula tests.
  • Addition Methods:
    • Direct Addition Method: During the paint mixing stage of coating production, slowly and evenly add DeuRheo 202P to the coating system while stirring. The stirring speed is generally controlled at 300 - 500 r/min, and the stirring time is 15 - 30 minutes to ensure the rheology additive is fully dispersed in the coating and uniformly mixed with other components.
    • Pre-Dilution Method: If the viscosity of the coating system is high or more precise control of the dosage is required, DeuRheo 202P can first be pre-diluted with the solvent in the coating system (the dilution ratio is generally 1:5 - 1:10), and then added to the coating system with continuous uniform stirring. Pre-dilution can improve the dispersion efficiency of the rheology additive in high-viscosity systems and avoid local agglomeration.

5. Storage & Safety

  • Storage Conditions: Should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse, avoiding direct sunlight and high-temperature environments. The recommended storage temperature is 5 - 35℃. The shelf life of unopened products is generally 12 - 18 months. After opening, it should be used as soon as possible; if not used up at one time, the packaging drum should be sealed promptly to prevent the product from absorbing moisture, volatilizing, or reacting with substances in the air, which may affect its performance.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Operators should wear appropriate protective equipment such as gloves and goggles when using this rheology additive to avoid skin and eye contact. If it accidentally comes into contact with the skin, rinse immediately with plenty of water; if it splashes into the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention promptly.
    • Although this product is not flammable or explosive, the storage and use areas should still maintain good ventilation to avoid the accumulation of a large amount of vapor. At the same time, it should be avoided to store or transport it together with strong oxidants, strong acids, and strong alkalis to prevent chemical reactions. During handling, handle with care to avoid damage to the packaging drum due to impact or extrusion, which may lead to product leakage.
