2. Core Product Characteristics
- Efficient Thixotropic Enhancement: Through the hydrogen bonding between the hydroxyl groups in the molecular chain and the silanol groups of fumed silica, the hydrogen bond density of the system is increased, the three-dimensional network structure is strengthened, and the thixotropy is significantly improved. Even if the amount of fumed silica or organoclay is reduced, the ideal anti-sagging effect can still be achieved, and the leveling and defoaming properties of the system are also improved.
- Dispersion and Compatibility Optimization: It can activate hydrophilic fumed silica, making it easier to be added into the resin system and dispersed evenly, reducing agglomeration problems, and has good compatibility with various resins such as vinyl ester, epoxy and unsaturated polyester.
- Stable Anti-settling Performance: It can effectively prevent the stratification of fumed silica in low thixotropic resin systems, and at the same time, it can inhibit the settlement of fillers in polyurethane, acrylic resin and polyether polyol systems during storage, maintaining the uniform stability of the system.
- Flexibility in Use: Although it is recommended to add before the functional fillers are added, post-adding is also supported, and the degree of thixotropy of the system can be precisely adjusted by post-adding to adapt to different production process requirements.
3. Applicable Application Fields
- Thermosetting Resin Systems: It is mainly used in vinyl ester resins, epoxy resins, unsaturated polyester resins and gel coats to enhance the rheological efficiency of fumed silica or organoclay, and is suitable for manufacturing scenarios such as ship yacht hull structural parts and composite materials.
- Polyurethane and Polyol Systems: It can be used in polyurethane, acrylic resin and polyether polyol to stabilize molecular sieves (such as zeolite) and prevent filler settlement, ensuring the storage stability of products.
- Filled System Optimization: It is suitable for resin systems containing inorganic fillers. By adding a small amount of additives, the settlement of fillers can be reduced and the storage and use performance of the system can be improved.
4. Recommended Dosage and Addition Method
(1) Recommended Dosage
Based on different systems and functional requirements, the dosage reference is as follows (all are recommended proportions in the purchased form):
| Application Scenario |
Reference Dosage |
| In vinyl ester resin (based on fumed silica) |
20-50% |
| In other resins (based on fumed silica) |
10-30% |
| Organoclay system |
5-20% |
| Inorganic filler system (based on the total system) |
0.5-2% |
| Anti-stratification in low thixotropic resin system (based on fumed silica) |
5-10% |
Note: The above are typical reference values, and the actual optimal dosage needs to be determined by experiments in combination with specific resin formulations, filler types and performance requirements.
(2) Addition Method
- Preferred method: Under continuous stirring, add the additive to the resin before adding fumed silica, organoclay or inorganic fillers, which can achieve the best dispersion effect and thixotropic enhancement performance.
- Post-adding method: If thixotropy needs to be adjusted later, it can be added later in the system preparation process. If uneven dispersion occurs, the compatibility can be optimized by extending the stirring time.
5. Storage and Safety Precautions
- Storage Conditions: Stratification or turbidity may occur during the storage of the product, which is a normal phenomenon, and it needs to be fully dispersed evenly before use; It should be stored in a cool, dry and ventilated place in a sealed manner, away from fire sources and heat sources, and avoid direct sunlight.
- Shelf Life: Under the sealed packaging meeting the storage conditions, the shelf life is usually 60 months (5 years).
- Safety Protection: Due to the low flash point (29℃), the safety management regulations for flammable liquids must be strictly observed, and fire-fighting equipment should be equipped in the storage and use areas; Operators should avoid direct skin contact, and should be cleaned in time if they come into contact by accident.
- Packaging Selection: As a chemical additive, it is recommended to use containers that meet the packaging standards for dangerous chemicals, such as metal drums or specially made plastic drums with excellent sealing performance. For details, please refer to the selection specifications for dangerous chemical packaging.
